Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2025
BrownWhitt Law (“Firm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Privacy Policy. This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit our website — https://brownwhittlaw.com or https://brownwhittlaw.com/intake — and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.
By accessing or using our Website, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to use our Website.
1. Information We Collect and How We Collect It
Personal Information You Provide.
When you fill out a contact or intake form, schedule a consultation, or communicate with us through the Website, we may collect:
Name
Email address
Phone number
Business or organization name
Information you voluntarily provide regarding your legal matter
Automated Information.
We use tools such as Google Analytics, Squarespace Analytics, and similar technologies to collect standard usage information including:
IP address, browser type, operating system
Pages visited, time spent on site, and referring website
This information is used in aggregate to improve user experience and website performance.
Third-Party Integrations.
We use trusted third-party providers to help manage data securely and efficiently, including:
CaseFox – client intake, case management, and secure document storage
Zoho Books and Zoho Mail – accounting and firm administration
Google Workspace – internal communications and cloud storage
Each of these providers maintains its own privacy and security policies, which meet or exceed industry standards for encryption and data protection.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect only for legitimate business purposes, including:
Responding to inquiries and scheduling consultations
Performing conflict checks and case intake
Providing legal or administrative information you request
Maintaining records for billing, compliance, and ethical purposes
Improving our Website and firm operations
We do not sell, lease, or rent your personal data to any third party.
3. Data Storage and Security
Client and contact information is securely stored on CaseFox servers, which use encryption in transit and at rest, hosted in compliance with U.S. data protection standards. CaseFox’s infrastructure meets industry requirements for law firm data handling, including encrypted authentication and restricted access controls.
Additional firm data may be stored in Zoho, Google Workspace, or Wise (for financial transactions), all of which employ SSL/TLS encryption and multi-factor authentication.
While we implement commercially reasonable safeguards, no electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. Transmission of information through this Website is at your own risk.
4. Confidentiality and Attorney–Client Relationship
BrownWhitt Law respects the confidentiality of all communications made in good faith by potential, current, and former clients. Information you submit through our website or intake form is treated as confidential to the extent required by Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct 1.6 and 1.18, even if no attorney–client relationship is ultimately established.
However, please note:
Submitting a contact or intake form does not itself create an attorney–client relationship or representation agreement. Formal representation begins only after the Firm confirms there is no conflict of interest and a written engagement or retainer agreement is executed.
Sensitive Information refers to details concerning the facts of your legal matter, personal identifiers (e.g., SSN, date of birth), financial or business records, or documents you may upload through our intake or client portal. These materials are encrypted and stored securely via CaseFox, our case-management system.
Non-Sensitive Information, such as analytics data automatically collected by our website or form-tracking tools (e.g., Google Analytics, LinkedIn Ads), is not treated as privileged or confidential legal communication and is used only for marketing and site-performance purposes.
In short, communications made for the purpose of seeking legal counsel are kept confidential, but no attorney–client relationship exists until formal engagement is confirmed.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal and client intake information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described above or as required by applicable law or professional rules. You may request deletion of your information by contacting us (subject to recordkeeping obligations).
6. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at the email address below.
If you receive marketing communications, you may unsubscribe at any time.
7. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to understand visitor behavior and site performance. These do not identify individual users. You can manage or disable cookies in your browser settings.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our Website and services are directed toward adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected information from a child, we will delete it promptly.
9. Jurisdiction
This Privacy Policy and any dispute related to it are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and applicable U.S. federal law.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted to this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the Website after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
